Nicole Ari Parker is an American film TV and stage actress who is known for her role as the spirited attorney Teri Joseph on the Showtime show Soul Food. After her wedding, she is also known as Nikki Kodjoe. Her acting talent was evident from childhood. A Maryland high school contest gave her the top actress prize. Apart from her role in the theater, she also worked with 'The Washington Ballet Company. The company awarded her the degree of Acting at New York University. The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love, her debut role in a major film, was a huge success and earned her the admiration of many. Films like Blue Streak and Boogie Nights Spark were followed by Boogie Nights Spark. Soul Food was an immensely loved TV show. Contractor, born from Mumbai in India, was raised in Nigeria through the age of seven. She'd been exposed to numerous travel experiences and different cultures at a very young age. After attending boarding school over seven years London, her family relocated to Toronto Canada where she spent much of her early years and into early adulthood. Contractor achieved academic success throughout her time in Toronto while also training as the ballerina. She was enrolled in the Etobicoke School of the Arts. It's a high school that teaches arts which allowed her to not just learn about theater, but also dance as well. Contractor, who had been dancing for more than 10 years by the time she was, decided she was ready to focus on acting. As soon as she finished high school, she received a full Scholarship to University of Toronto. At the University of Toronto she completed an MA in Theatre, and was also a double major in Psychology and Sociology. After one semester at the University, Contractor went to an audition on a call-to-action basis for the show Pericles at the prestigious famous, world-class Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and got the leading role. In 2002, Canadian critics praised her performance in 92 performances of the play. Contractor was given the chance to take part in the conservatory program, where the top eight men and four females are selected to take a crash course of 20 weeks on classical theater which she eagerly took. Contractor's place in the following play season was secured and she was chosen as Hermia.
